The Studio
Aarasta was founded in 2024 on the idea that a room already contains most of its own brief — in how the light falls, how people move through it, and what the people who live there have already chosen to keep.
Our work sits between two things that are usually kept apart: the craft traditions of Lucknow — chikankari, wood inlay, hand-plastered walls, reclaimed teak — and the spatial discipline of contemporary design services practice. Neither is decoration for the other. We plan and draw to production standard, then let the materials, and the people who make them, do the talking.

Process & precision
A visualisation is a promise. The drawing set is how it gets kept. Every project leaves this studio documented to production standard — elevations, sections, carcass details, hardware and material callouts, dimensioned to the millimetre — so the fabricator builds what was designed rather than what they assumed.

How a project unfolds
Weeks 1–2
We listen before we draw. How you use a room at seven in the morning, what you have collected, what you would never part with, what the site does with light across the day. The brief that comes out of this is usually not the brief you arrived with — and it is the one worth building.
Weeks 3–5
The spatial narrative takes shape: how the plan sequences, where the eye lands, what the room is made of. You receive a material palette you can hold, early layouts, and a clear visual language for the project. This is the stage where the big decisions are cheap.
Weeks 6–10
Everything is resolved and drawn. Dimensioned plans, elevations, sections, joinery and furniture details, specification sheets, and photorealistic visualisations of each key space. Nothing goes to site as a suggestion.
Programme-dependent
Build management with contractors and craftspeople we know. Site visits against the drawing set, sequencing, and the ordinary daily work of catching a discrepancy before it becomes a defect. Where the work is remote, coordination runs on a fixed reporting rhythm.
Final 2 weeks
Styling, final placement, photography, and the walkthrough where the house stops being a project. You get the full drawing set and specification archive — so that whoever touches the space in ten years knows exactly what is behind the wall.
