A formal dining room in olive, gold and polished black stone — built for twelve, lit for eight.
Formal dining is the one room in an Indian home that still gets used at full capacity, and it deserves to be designed for that. This one seats twelve at a single table under a run of sculptural pendants, with a mirrored bar and crockery display closing the far end.
Olive-green panelling was chosen over the expected ivory: it holds candlelight, flatters the gold, and stops a long room from reading as a banquet hall.
The floor is polished black stone with a brass inlay border. It doubles the pendants, doubles the table, and gives the room the depth its proportions don't have on their own.
